NHS England holds first AGM
NHS England has held its first annual general meeting, focusing on end of life care, health inequality, seven day services, transparency, and the future of the NHS.
The event on September 12 at the QEII conference centre in London was attended by patients, service users and providers, carers, volunteers, medical professionals, commissioners, policy and administrative staff, and people from Healthwatch.
About 250 people attended, creating a lively atmosphere both in the centre and online – 4,000 tweets were sent about the five areas of discussion for the day.

In her report on the day, Olivia Butterworth, head of public voice at NHS England, said: “I think that some of the most important messages we heard were about unlocking the power of people; using the skills and assets we all bring; reaching and supporting everyone; making sure we all work together to create and organise services that are responsive and there when we need them; and walking in others shoes to truly understand peoples unique lives and experiences.”
Videos from the day, including the speeches by board members Professor Sir Malcolm Grant, Sir David Nicholson and Paul Baumann are available here.
