Independent chair appointed to lead West Midlands STP
The Black Country and West Birmingham STP has appointed Jonathan Fellows as its new independent chair.
Fellows has been finance director for a number of large national businesses within the media and retail sectors, and has also been a non-executive director at the Dudley Group NHS FT for 11 years.
He is currently the chair of the Black Country Pathology Service Oversight Group, responsible for providing strategic direction and delivering improvement in pathology services across the Black Country, West Birmingham, Shrewsbury and Telford.
Fellows will provide leadership to the STP board and support the 18 health and care organisations involved in the partnership to transform the delivery of health and care services across the Black Country and West Birmingham.
The STP is a partnership of health and social care organisations that have come together to improve the health and wellbeing of people across the Black Country and West Birmingham.
Fellows said: “I am delighted to join the STP and look forward to working with partner organisations to improve local services.”
With the demand for healthcare increasing, he added there is a “need for us to work closer together” and use the expertise and knowledge of local people, communities, healthcare professionals and organisations to transform how we deliver health and care services.
Dr Helen Hibbs, senior responsible officer for the STP, said: “Jonathan joins us at a very important stage in our development as we continue to collaborate to develop integrated care across our partnership.
“The role of independent chair will be fundamental in driving forward this agenda, which will maximise our ability to deliver the sustainable, high-quality care local people deserve.”
