The Welsh NHS Confederation has announced that Jonathan Morgan will lead the organisation into a bold new era of collaboration as chair.
Jonathan, who is currently the chair of Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTMUHB), has spent the last 12 years working across a variety of senior and non-executive roles in the health, social care and housing sectors.
On his appointment, Jonathan said that while the NHS faces challenges at the moment, “there are opportunities for innovation, creativity and focus” through collaboration.
He said: “I want us to continue the work with ministers, Members of the Senedd and key public service partners as we find new and bold solutions to deliver a health and care service that responds to the needs of the people of Wales to ensure the best outcomes for our population.”

Prior to his role at CTMUHB, Jonathan was a board member at Health Education and Improvement Wales, as well as serving on the audit committee for the Public Services Ombudsman and Future Generations Commissioner.
Jonathan replaces Emma Woollett after she stepped down from her role as chair of Swansea Bay University Health Board and the Welsh NHS Confederation.
“We’re thrilled to have Jonathan join us as our new chair, as we say goodbye and thank you to Emma Woollett who has made a huge contribution,” said Darren Hughes, director at the Welsh NHS Confederation.
He added that Jonathan’s wealth of public sector and political experience, along with his enthusiasm, commitment and determination will bolster the Welsh NHS Confederation.
Following his departure from the National Assembly for Wales, Jonathan chaired South Wales’ Hafod Housing Association, where he delivered social housing and social care services throughout Cardiff, the Vale, Bridgend, and Rhondda Cynon Taf.
