A new resource for boards leading the health sector’s digital transformation journey has been launched, NHS Providers has announced.
Part of the Digital Boards programme, the new guide is the seventh and final installment of NHS Providers’ comprehensive digital leadership guides, which detail examples of best practice and advice from across the NHS.
The final publication distills the key learnings from the previous six guides and covers a range of subjects, including chapters on:
- Digital leadership – understanding the role of the board;
- Building and enabling digital teams;
- Creating an effective digital strategy;
- Making technology decisions;
- Digital delivery;
- Optimising your EPR;
- Next steps.
NHS Providers’ Deputy Chief Executive, Saffron Cordery, described the guide as “a snapshot of what matters most when it comes to board leadership” and has been developed to allow users to access the various chapters when they’re at the relevant stage of their digital transformation journey.
“We’re immensely proud of what we’ve delivered for trusts over the last three years and look forward to the next chapter,” she said.
NHS England’s System Chief Information Officer, Sonia Patel, said: “Over the last three years, the Digital Boards programme has delivered resources, networking and support to enable boards to better champion digital programmes. This important guide brings together much of that learning, supporting leaders to ensure digital becomes a board-owned priority."
Since its initial launch in March 2020, the Digital Boards project has helped more than 2,000 trust leaders across over 40 events and nearly 100 development sessions.
