New modules of training have been launched to support more NHS workers into the research workforce, the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) has announced.
Hosted by the FutureNHS platform and developed by the NIHR Nursing and Midwifery Incubator, the free online courses will help with things involving members of the public in research and identifying research ‘uncertainties’.
The training will be suitable for people who are new to research as well as those who are more experienced.
They will feature real-world career examples and case studies to help learners better understand how a research project should be designed and what funders prioritise.
“…confidence to take the next step…”
The training, which allows for self-paced study and online collaboration, has been based on material created for nurses and midwives in 2019 that has been updated.
NIHR senior investigator, David Richards, said: “All health and social care professionals want to deliver the most effective care they can. That means using the treatments and techniques with the best scientific evidence.”
This new resource will help those who want to produce that evidence themselves improve their skills and progress their careers, explained David.
He added: “We hope that the programme will give individuals the confidence to take the next step in their research career.”
Training and development will be a prominent feature of National Health Executive’s Workforce event. Register to learn more about training, recruitment, staff management and more.
