The future of healthcare in the capital is set for a boost as University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH) launches a new five-year strategy.
Developed in collaboration with everyone from staff and patients to national and global sector partners, the plan sets out how UCLH will improve patient experience, promote staff growth, progress research and safeguard financial stability.
UCLH took learnings gleaned from the implementation of its 2018 strategy as well as feedback from both patients and staff. This feedback included how patients want to be communicated with and treated is evolving – as are their general needs.
Staff, on the other hand, reported the post-pandemic challenges they have dealt with, their desire for more streamlined processes and the need for better recruitment.
Taking this into account, the plan has five main tenets, including:
- Providing high-quality patient care;
- Investing in a diverse workforce;
- Delivering world-class research and innovation;
- Achieving excellent education and training;
- Improving value, productivity and sustainability.
Baroness Julia Neuberger DBE, UCLH Chair, said: “The new UCLH strategy belongs to all of our staff, patients and partners. Underpinned by our vision and values, it sets out an exciting path for UCLH over the next five years.
“I am very proud to chair UCLH and believe that this strategy will help us all to focus on the things that matter to patients, staff and our partners.”
Trust Chief Executive David Probert added: “We have all faced many challenges over the past few years, both in the NHS and wider society. Now is a good time to not only recognise these challenges, but also celebrate UCLH’s strengths and look to a future where we continue to deliver top-quality patient care, excellent education and world-class research.”
