NHS England has unveiled the new NHS Transformation Executive Team to lead its transition into the Department of Health and Social Care.
The newly formed team will replace the current NHS England Executive Group and will support ongoing business priorities, statutory functions, and daily operations. All members, except the deputy chief executive officer, will assume their roles on 1 April 2025.
Key Appointments include:
- Glen Burley, Mark Cubbon, and David Probert: Will continue their trust roles alongside their new positions on the Transformation Executive Team.
- Professor Stephen Powis: Will remain as national medical director until early July, working with Meghana Pandit and Claire Fuller to finalize arrangements for the medical directorate.
- Jim Mackey: Chief Executive, overseeing regional directors.
- Navina Evans: Chief Workforce, Training and Education Officer.
- Chris Hopson: Chief Strategy Officer.
- New Roles: Financial reset and accountability director, elective care, cancer and diagnostics director, and two co-medical directors.

Structural Changes included in this process will see the roles of Chief Operating Officer and Chief Delivery Officer eliminated, with a new Chief Digital Officer being recruited soon.
The team, drawn from the existing executive and wider NHS on secondment, was appointed following discussions with the Secretary of State, Department of Health and Social Care senior officials, incoming chair Dr Penny Dash, and NHS England’s Board. All appointments are subject to Board approval, with permanent recruitment to follow once the future structure is clearer.
